On the other hand, the trans fatty acids found in biscuits and<\/p>\n<p><strong>Love eating lean<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Swap full fat mayonnaise for\u00a0a lighter option, use lower fat\u00a0spreads where possible and\u00a0read the ingredient labels on products in the supermarket.heart disease.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>What different fats really do to\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>your body:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong> Saturated \u2013 <\/strong>Increase the amount of total cholesterol in the blood, which increases the risk of developing heart disease<\/li>\n<li><strong> Poly-unsaturated \u2013 <\/strong>Can lower total cholesterol, which decreases the risk of developing heart disease<\/li>\n<li><strong> Mono-unsaturated \u2013 <\/strong>Have a lowering effect on total cholesterol by encouraging the production of \u2018good HDL\u2019 cholesterol, which helps to protect the heart<\/li>\n<li><strong> Omega 3 fatty acids \u2013 <\/strong>Help protect against coronary heart disease and can be found in oily fi sh<\/li>\n<li><strong> Trans fatty acids \u2013 <\/strong>Often found in biscuits, cakes, fast food, pastry, palm oil and some margarines. They have a similar negative effect \u00a0on blood cholesterol as saturated fats<\/li>\n<li><strong> Cholesterol \u2013 <\/strong>Cholesterol is essential for correct body functioning.
